Research based on more than 1,000 employers representing over 14 million workers across 55 economies. It examines how jobs and capabilities are expected to change through to 2030.
Key finding / idea
On average, workers can expect that two-fifths (39%) of their existing skill sets will be transformed or become outdated over the 2025-2030 period. AI and big data capabilities are rising rapidly, but employers also continue to place significant value on human capabilities including creative thinking, resilience, curiosity, leadership and social influence.
Why we picked it
The interesting story isn't simply that technical skills are changing. At the same time that organisations need more AI capability, employers continue to value distinctly human capabilities. That makes workforce planning rather more complicated than simply identifying the next list of technical skills.
A question worth considering
If skills are changing this quickly, should organisations be building skills or building the capacity to keep learning?
